Ryanair announces partnership with SOS Children’s Villages UK

A charity that cares for orphaned and abandoned children in 125 countries is to be supported by Ryanair.

SOS Children’s Villages UK has been named as the low-cost carrier’s European charity partner for 2016.

More than 80% of the charity’s funding is raised through corporate and individual donations.

Ryanair will support this with a number of fundraising initiatives over the next 12 months.

The airline’s chief marketing officer, Kenny Jacobs, said: “We are pleased to announce SOS Children’s Villages UK as our nominated European charity partner for 2016 and we look forward to launching some exciting projects over the next 12 months to raise significant funding for this extremely worthy cause, which does so much invaluable work to help orphaned and abandoned children.

“Our customers will be able to support this partnership throughout the next year and we look forward to making a significant contribution over the next 12 months.”

SOS Children’s Villages UK chief executive, Simon Etherington, added: “There is a very strong correlation between Ryanair’s footprint and our own activities in those countries, and this provides an excellent basis for working together on a number of exciting fundraising initiatives.

“Last year SOS Children’s Villages provided a loving family home for over 78,700 children and provided family strengthening support to 360,800 people worldwide.

“The funds raised by Ryanair’s staff and customers will further our work of ensuring that every child grows up in a family: loved, respected and protected.”
