A&K to expand fleet with Peruvian riverboat

Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group will expand its fleet with the launch of a Peruvian riverboat.

The ship, which has not yet been named, is schedule to depart on its maiden voyage in April 2025 and will be the company’s first riverboat in South America.

Described by the company as a “floating boutique hotel”, the ship will have 10 double cabins and two single cabins, an outdoor swimming pool, indoor and outdoor lounges and bars, a spa and a gym, with a 1:1 guest-to-staff ratio.

The vessel will offer three and four-night itineraries in the Amazon, which can be combined to create seven-night sailings on the Marañon and Ucayali rivers.

All itineraries will sail round-trip from Nauta and will “delve deep” into the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, including guided excursions in search of wildlife, as well as opportunities to kayak, fish and hike in the jungle.

The company said the onboard dining will be an “adventure in itself” with a menu designed to “celebrate the diverse culinary heritage of the Amazon”.

The announcement comes three months after A&K confirmed it is building a new riverboat to sail on the Nile in Egypt, with completion expected in autumn 2025.

Chief executive Cristina Levis said: “The launch of this new riverboat marks a momentous chapter for Abercrombie & Kent.

“This venture embodies our unwavering commitment to delivering experiences that are not only luxurious but also deeply enriching and sustainable.

“We are excited to introduced our guests to the untold stories and serene beauty of the Peruvian Amazon in a manner that honours and preserves the essence of this remarkable destination.”
