Two large UK conference and exhibition hotels have reportedly been put up for sale.
The 790-room Hilton Birmingham Metropole and its sister hotel, the Hilton London Metropole, are set to go on the market with an estimated asking price of between £650 million and £700 million.
The properties are being sold through CBRE Hotels by Edward Wojakovski’s family-owned Tonstate property group, which has owned them for almost a decade, the Times reported.
The London Hilton Metropole (pictured), near Paddington, is a freehold property that sits in 1.7 acres with 1,059 rooms, making it the largest Hilton-operated hotel in Europe, while the long-leasehold Birmingham Metropole is located at the NEC Birmingham.
Tonstate, which was set up in 1996 by Wojakovski and former commodities broker, Arthur Matyas, acquired the two hotels from Hilton in October 2006 for £417 million.
Its interests also include the Hilton Cardiff and two hotels at Glasgow airport.
