Thomson and First Choice are targeting so-called ‘Sunshine Saturday’ tomorrow for a major bookings boost.

More than one million people are expected to visit the sister Tui Group operators’ websites and high street agencies.

Bookings are anticipated to peak in-store between 2pm and 3pm and 8pm online, which is half an hour earlier than last year.

Thomson and First Choice expect a record number of digital bookings via tablet devices or mobile phones.

More than 42% of the online bookings made tomorrow are expected to be done using these devices.

The most popular short-haul destinations are expected to be Croatia (pictured), Cyprus and Santorini in Greece, while Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, and Cuba are set to top the long haul list.

Thomson Cruises’ newest addition to the fleet, Thomson Discovery, sets sail from June and is expected to be popular together with new departures by Thomson Celebration from Dubai.

Thomson and First Choice commercial director, Andrew Flintham, said: “Many people like to book their holidays early to give them something to look forward to in the year ahead.

“January is one of the best times to book as there are some fantastic deals available as well as thousands of free child places to a broad range of hotels and destinations.

“Summer 2016 will see 24 new routes departing from regional airports across the UK, ensuring our customers have more choice than ever.

“We really do have something for everybody, whether you want to adventure in Sri Lanka or relax in the Dominican Republic.”
