Agents to be told to ‘think Aito first’ at conference

Aito Specialist Travel Agents will be urged to change the way they think about the travel body at this weekend’s domestic conference as the parent tour operator association adds six further suppliers.

Travel agency members will be encouraged to put the agents’ arm of the Association of Independent Tour Operators at the forefront of their business agendas, said chairman Gemma Antrobus, in keeping with the ‘Aito First’ theme for the UK conference. This will be attended by Aito Agents and Aito’s tour operator members.

Antrobus says the more agents put in to Aito Agents, and get involved, the more their businesses can benefit.

“It’s about helping to shift people’s attitudes to Aito and making sure we think Aito first,” she said.

“It’s also getting people back to understanding what we are about, what we have done and what we can do. We are becoming more recognised as a trade body and I want everyone to get the best value for their membership.”

The annual domestic conference takes place this Saturday and Sunday at Jurys Inn Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire. It will include a topical travel industry panel debate, a keynote speech from double-amputee Ben McBean, and a marketplace speed-dating session.

Aito, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary, has expanded to 122 members this week with the addition of Cyplon Holidays, Nordic Experience, Azure Collection, Chic Locations, Real Holidays and Western & Oriental.
