Athens route returns to Newcastle airport for second summer

Flights from Newcastle airport to Athens have returned for a second summer.

Greek carrier Aegean is running two flights a week on Wednesdays and Sundays until October 23.

Departures at 11.35pm mean passengers arrive in the Greek capital at 5.05am local time.

Return flights depart at 8.30pm Athens time, landing in Newcastle at 10.35pm.

Newcastle airport aviation development director Leon McQuaid said: “Aegean is one of our newest airline partners and we are delighted that, following strong bookings last year, the airline has returned for its second summer season operating from the airport.

“As well as providing passengers with a new city break or summer sun destination, this direct service to Athens also offers a convenient option for passengers joining cruises from the Greek capital or serves as an additional hub connection for those who are looking to connect to the Greek Islands and beyond.”
